Meet the Team
Head of Business Development
Michelle joined the business in 2008 as the company accountant. The knowledge gained in this position, along with her previous experience, has allowed Michelle to expand her role and in 2016 she became Head of Business Development. She is now responsible for Business Development across the group of companies encompassing Sales, Marketing and the implementation and delivery of new projects.
Head of Customer Services
Jayne has recently started in her new role as Head of Customer Services after 13 years of working for the business in a variety of roles including, Sales and Business Development Manager and then Acting General Manager. Jayne's new role involves looking after both the Reservations and Operations teams but also our Groups departments. Jayne is enthusiastic and passionate about getting things right, every time, for our clients.
Darren is responsible for finance across all companies within the group structure. In addition to his group role, Darren’s other responsibilities include the completion of the group’s statutory accounts, statutory reporting to HMRC, CAA and IATA, and budgets and forecasts. Prior to joining the group in July 2003, Darren worked for Phillips Salisbury Chartered Accountants and the construction company Redrow Group PLC. Darren holds a BSc Econ in Economics and Economic Social History from Aberystwyth University.
Head of HR and Performance
Lorraine joined the group in 2007 and looks after all areas of HR, in addition she oversees the training and development of all staff members. As the HR Manager, Lorraine handles the recruitment, employee relations, benefits and the policies and practises. Lorraine said “Most importantly, I must be available to answer the questions and needs of the employees in the company. Employee morale is of vital importance therefore practices need to be implemented that create and help to foster high employee morale within the company”.
Andy joined Aviate in September 2015 and quickly became a valued member of the team. He brought with him many years’ worth of experience, after working for a variety of different tour operators spanning various different departments. He manages a team of 6 girls so has his work cut out – Andy is always approachable and is continuously ready to help solve any problem; if he doesn’t know the answer, he will find it!
PA to the Managing Director
Catharine started as Mike Edward's PA in October 2007. As a central contact for Mike, she deals with queries from external contacts and all internal departments, supporting other managers when the need arises – Catharine can turn her hand to most things. Every business should have one!One word Catharine uses to describe herself is Vibrant. “I enjoy getting to know people and anyway, life’s too short to be anything else”.
Sales and Business Development Manager
Naomi has been with the business since 2003 working in various roles within the company, becoming Sales and Business Development Manager in 2015. Naomi manages all aspects of sales and business development of our tour operator accounts. She enjoys meeting all of our clients in person and building on relationships that have spanned decades. Her team would describe her as 'Mother Hen' and with her love of mentoring we think it's a pretty good fit.
Sam has been with Aviate since day one. He occupies himself with managing our systems and IT issues, so we all have him on red alert! Sam has to bounce from one office to another whenever an issue arises so he is always very energetic and enthusiastic – Nothing is too much trouble for Sam.
Sam joined us as a reservations consultant just over 2 years ago and quickly progressed to the role of Flights Manager. Leading a team of ever-growing Customer Service Exectuives. Sam’s passion is travel so working for Aviate is the perfect role for her. When we asked Sam to describe herself, she said Ambitious, so we expect big things from her!
Company Training Manager
Julie is our Company Training Manager and has been with us for nearly 4 years. Julies day is never the same but mainly consists of managing the induction programmes for all new starters into the company, co-ordinating and monitoring all training that we require whilst working on the development and performance plans for all staff including quality control and covering service standards. With over 100 team members, there is never a dull moment for Julie, but she wouldn’t have it any other way!
Rick joined us after working in the finance team responsible for ticketing at the World Cup in Brazil. He has been with us for 15 months now and works in all aspects of finance. Like all accountants, Rick enjoys nothing more than numbers and figures, but unlike most accountants has a mischievous sense of humour! Rick is our office joker!
Systems Team Leader
After studying Tourism at the University of Chester, Laura worked in travel for a year before seeing the light and joining Aviate in Customer Support. She now supports Chris in the systems development team, which means developing our systems and problem solving any errors that may occur. Nothing much gets Laura down – She is our office ray of sunshine.
Business Development Coordinator
Chloe joined the Aviate team in January 2015 and originally worked within the Groups customer service team. Chloe joined the Sales and Business Development team in January 2017 and now nurtures existing accounts as well as bringing on new ones. Chloe also allocates all of our lovely FAM trips. She's the bright spark in our team!
Phil joined us in October 2015, after moving to Cheshire from Brazil, where he worked for American Airlines. Phil works alongside Carla to ensure all fares are correct guaranteeing correct ticket prices for our operators. Phil is perfect for this role as he describes himself as conscientious. Phil’s role requires a lot of concentration and attention to detail.
Adriano joined us in April 2016 after previously working for major airlines such as Emirates and Etihad Airways, he therefore has a huge knowledge of the airline industry – Lucky us! Adriano asked his colleagues how they would describe him, their answer – ‘So French’! Take from that what you will.
Customer Service Executive
Chantelle is part of our Operations team, and has worked in travel since leaving college. Chantelle’s role in the department is very varied but involves issuing tickets and answering any queries our agents may have. Chantelle is always happy, even when dealing with complicated issues – Chantelle’s glass is always half full!
Specialist Sales Executive
Jodie has been with Aviate for just over 4 years now. Jodie has built great relationships with our operators, knowing that she will always go that extra mile to provide best price/routing for all our agents in order to meet the client’s needs. We would describe Jodie as being industrious, always prepared for any task.
Quality Assurance & Process Improvement Manager
We welcomed Bronwen to the team in early December 2015. Bronwen has worked in operations in her previous role so hit the ground running, quickly liaising with our airlines and our operators. Bronwen knows what she wants from her career and we know with her determination she will get there.
Sales & Business Development Manager
Clare joined us in July 2015, when we took over the operation of Virgin Atlantic Flightstore, Clare is our Sales Executive and her role involves speaking to our operators on a daily basis to ensure they are kept up to date with all of our news, whether it be a new route, a system change or updating them on any incentives we are running. Clare is a definite people person so loves nothing more than a good chat with our operators!
Customer Service Team Leader - Groups
Kay was our Senior Groups Booking Coordinator on the Aviate Groups team and was also involved in staff training and development so it wasnt a shock when she recently became Team Leader for the Groups department. She started off working in the groups department for our sister company Lime. Kay moved over to Aviate Groups on a temporary contract in September 2016 and ended up staying! She's an asset to the team and her knowledge of airlines, routes and schedules is second to none.
Senior Customer Service Executive - Groups
Lisa worked for our sister company Lime Management and then joined us here at Aviate in September 2016 following her maternity leave. Lisa works in the groups department and settled in very quickly before being made a Senior Executive not too long ago. She is a valuable asset to the team.
Sales and Business Development Team Leader - Groups
Stacey started with our sister company Lime in October 2010 and is now works on Aviate Groups. She is our Sales and Business Development Team Leader and manages all of our Group Accounts and is excellent at building relationships. Stacey always goes the extra mile and sees all projects through to completion. Stacey is an excellent networker and is the Aviate 'social butterfly'.
Customer Service Executive
Kirsty joined Aviate in September 2016, bringing with her 9 years of experience in travel. Kirsty loves to travel and loves the travel industry she is looking forward to advancing her career here at Aviate. We’re really pleased to have Kirsty here and to benefit from all of her experience.
Hayley started working at Aviate in September 2016, having previously worked as an Insurance Administrator. Hayley is bubbly and outgoing as well as being meticulous in her work and makes a great addition to the Systems team here at Aviate. Hayley is currently off on maternity leave but we are already looking forward to having her back.
Business Development Team Leader
Mariela is our Sales and Business Development Team Leader for Flights. Mariela’s role allows her to manage existing accounts and building great relationships with our Tour Operator partners whilst managing 3 Business Development Executive's. Prior to joining Aviate, Mariela worked for a leading British Airline for 18 years. Anyone who has met Mariela knows how lively, funny and charming she is. She loves travelling and we are delighted to have her as part of the team.
Hollie assists our Head of HR with all aspects of HR! Covering everything from staff inductions and employee relations to HR policies and procedures. Welcoming all new starters to the company is one of Hollie's favourite things to do and she is great at it - having had lots of practice since she started a month ago! Hollie has always had a passion for travel - working for one of the UK's leading tour operators immediately after she left school.
Senior Customer Service Executive - Groups
Claire joined us in February 2017 as Customer Service Executive on Aviate Groups. Claire is exceptional at building relationships with our clients which is an important aspect of her role. Before joining Aviate, Claire worked as Cabin Crew. Her hobbies include travelling to various destinations each year to watch Formula 1 and MOTOGP races. Monte Carlo is her favourite so far!
