Restarting international flights

With Australia on track to reach the National Cabinet's 80 percent vaccination target by December - the trigger for starting to carefully open to some parts of the world - we've released an updated plan for the restart of our international flights from the end of this year.

  • Flights to destinations with high vaccine rates are expected to resume from mid-December - which are likely to include Australia to the united Kingdom, Singapore, the United States, Canada and New Zealand, using our Boeing 787 Dreamliners and Airbus A330's, with 737 services to Fiji.
  • Flights from Australia to Hong Kong are expected to restart in February 2022, with the rest of the Qantas international network, including destinations such as Australia to Johannesburg, planned to open up from April 2022.
  • We also intend to bring five A380's, with all-new interiors, back in to service a year ahead of schedule, flying between Sydney and Los Angeles from July 2022, and between Sydney and London (via Singapore) from November 2022.

These plans remain dependant on Government decisions in the coming months, including future quarantine requirements, as well as entry policies of other countries. We'll keep you updated if the assumptions change and we need to adjust our restart plans accordingly.
